Travel Friend Wanted!
Hey everyone! I am a born and raised Canadian. 🤗 🇨🇦 English is my first language and it is what I have grown up speaking however I do speak some French and Spanish as well… which leads me to explaining exactly what it is I’m doing here on workaway! Ever since I can remember, I have always been passionate about learning new languages as a way to uncover a new way of understanding people, culture, and lived experience. (Since Canada is incredibly multicultural and diverse, I grew up with many close friends whose family spoke another language at home and I was always trying to figure out what was being said.) Having been blessed with the opportunity to participate in a number of different language and cultural exchanges, it’s safe to say I am hooked for life!! I am a very open-minded individual who knows the values of hard work, compassion towards others (as well as myself), and the importance of the stewardship of our land and natural resources. I grew up on an organic produce farm outside of a small town in Alberta, Canada with my 5 siblings and 2 parents where we planted, weeded, cared for, and harvested a number of different fruits and vegetables. Since obtaining my Bachelors Degree in Psychology in 2017 I have been working as a child caregiver for two sweet little girls. In between working for them I have managed to fit some travel in, although nothing quite as long term as I would like (I completed the Camino De Santiago pilgrimage in Spain as well as travelled around other parts of Europe this past fall of 2018). As the two girls have continued to grow and are both going to be entering school now I am beyond excited to continue to explore my love of travel, culture, new foods and meeting people from all walks of life! Aside from travelling, another passion in my life has been hiking and playing sports. The city where I’m currently living is home to the breathtaking Rocky Mountains (1 hour drive from Banff) and I am working away at an ever increasing summit ‘bucket list’ which I hope I can add to in the next country I end up living in!
